COMMUNITY OUTREACH
One School at a Time
With our club's mission always in mind, we strive to spread the possibilities of engineering to younger students. Our goal is to visit nearby middle schools and work with the students on engineering related activities. Contact us if you or your school would be interested in participating in the learning experience.
OUR PROJECTS
Collaborative & Innovative
JUNIOR SOLAR SPRINT
We are currently mentoring middle school students from Tokama Park Middle who are working with our advisement on the Junior Solar Sprint Challenge.
The Junior Solar Sprint Challenge is a competition the challenges middle school students to think outside of the book and create the fastest solar car. For more information click here.
SSIMS STEM Fair
In February 2020, SWE hosted a booth at Silver Spring International Middle School. Along with showcasing our newest car the the middle school students, we were also able to create a straw rocket launching activity to spark their engineering interest, and talked with many young ladies about what it is like to be females persuing STEM careers. We hope that when schools return to somewhat normal we are able to visit more schools and inspire more young women.
