Visiting The Maryland General Assembly

On Friday, January 10, a group of Society of Women Engineer members we invite to the Annapolis, to visit the Maryland General Assembly. At the Assembly, the members were introduced to Delegate Jared Solomon, who sponsored the visit, and Delegate Emily Shetty. We enjoyed telling them about our plans for furthering our outreach for middle and high schoolers interested in STEM, focusing on engineering. After meeting the delegates, the group was escorted to the Maryland State House, to our reserved seats in the House Gallery. From there, we watched on as Delegate Solomon introduced the Society to the floor session. Afterward, the group received a riveting tour of the historic rooms and chambers of the Maryland State House. Who knew the dome was constructed completely without nails, not I! To end an amazing day, the group enjoyed wonderful tacos at Vida Taco Bar.

Thank you so much to Delegate Solomon for sponsoring our visit, and we hope to work with you in the future. As well as thank you to the graduates who came back and participated in the tour as well. We miss you and hope you are successful in all your ventures.
